There are many trails that you can hike in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Devastation Trail- You walk on a paved path through a starkly recovering landscape that was once buried by falling cinder. There are many native plants and birds, cinder and cinder cones, Pele's hair and tears, and lava molds to see. The trail is a 1 mile hike. They advise that no one climbs the Pu'u Pua', cinder cone.
Kipukapuaulu Trail- This trail shows a story of the struggle and survival for some of the islands rarest plants and animals. It also shows off the islands unique biological diversity. The hike is 1.2 miles and takes about 1-1 1/2 hours. But be aware that concentrated SO2 gases and sulfur fumes from Halemaumau crater and can be dangerous for people with heart or respiratory conditions.
